“In art, as long as you have ideas and think, you are bound to deform nature. Art is deformation.” Fernando Botero (1932 - 2023)
For its third exhibition, Unframed Gallery chooses to bring together seven artists under one roof.
Over two floors, a kaleidoscopic landscape of visions, voices and materials unfolds. Willem Vermeersch, Nicolas Van Parys, Kristof Van Heeschvelde, Marilou van Lierop, Bart Gielen, Batist Vermeulen and Mariami Tsotadze are showing their work there.
Seven artistic manuscripts. Seven idiosyncratic approaches. One shared space. What emerges is not a compromise, but a field of tension. A lively clash of imagery and meaning that does not demand explanation, but invites sensing.
This group show is not an attempt to explain, but an exercise in wonder.
The focus is not on understanding, but on standing still. In a world where images flash and disappear, we choose work that lingers. That touches. That disturbs and seduces at the same time. What binds these seven artists is their ability to bend, distort and break open reality. Each in their own way. Without embellishment. Without a manual. You look. You feel. And you give it meaning for yourself.
